                FLAVORS OF SOUTH INDIA
FLAVORS OF SOUTH INDIA ITINERARY:

Days 1 - 3, Thursday - Saturday - Depart for Mumbai, India
Depart from home on Thursday.
Arrive in Mumbai and find a beautiful harbor and cosmopolitan city of over eight million people. Visit the Prince of Wales Museum and the Gandhi Museum, where Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, stayed during his visits to Bombay from 1917 – 1934.

Days 4 - 6, Sunday - Tuesday - Goa
Visit Panjim, the capital city of Goa and ascend Altinho Hill for an aerial view of the city. Make your way to Old Goa, once called the “Rome of the East,” and explore St. Mary’s Convent, the largest in all of Asia. You are invited to share a lunch with a local family at their ancestral home.

Days 7 & 8, Wednesday & Thursday - Cochin
Visit the Jewish Synagogue, one of the oldest in India, and the Dutch Palace, well-known for its mural paintings. For more local flavor in Cochin, witness a “Kathakali” dance performance, distinctive for its elaborate make-up, colorful costumes and choreography.

Days 9 & 10, Friday & Saturday - Kumarakom
Enjoy a houseboat cruise on the renowned Kerala backwaters. The complex network of lagoons, rivers and canals ringing the coast of Kerela forms the basis of a distinct regional lifestyle. Experience life on the river as you stop at villages along the way. The celebrated backwaters of Kerala also comprise one of South India’s most picturesque rural areas.

Days 11 - 14, Sunday - Wednesday - Chennai (Madras)
Visit the Bronze Museum, Mylapore Temple and St. Thomas’ Cathedral, which houses the grave of St. Thomas the Apostle. In Mahabalipuram, the city of the seven pagodas, witness the breathtaking display of the pagodas or “rathas”—small-sized shrines that have been chiseled out of boulders. Also discover the “Penance of Bhagiratha,” the world’s largest bas-relief in stone, so wellconstructed, its figures appear to be alive. Enjoy a festive farewell party with your fellow travelers.
