UNTAMED KENYA ITINERARY:
Days 1 - 3, Tuesday - Thursday - Depart for Nairobi, Kenya
Depart from home on Tuesday.
In Nairobi visit the Karen Blixen Museum, the African Gallery,
and Dame Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage.
Days 4 & 5, Friday & Saturday - Amboseli National Park
Watch for herds of elephants from our light aircraft flight
to Amboseli. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives into the
park, watching for elephants, Cape buffaloes, lions, baboons,
antelopes and fringe-eared oryx. Snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro
looms on the horizon. We may also spot gazelles, Maasai
giraffes, zebras, and wildebeests.
Days 6 & 7, Sunday & Monday - Samburu National Reserve
Fly to Samburu Reserve, where we hope to spot herds of
elephants, buffaloes and big cats. Our luxurious tented camp is
set in lush lawns on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River. We’ll
enjoy afternoon and early morning game drives, with dawn being
the best time of day to spy the Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra,
Reticulated giraffe, African oryx or even a leopard. We’ll also
visit a boma (homestead) of the Samburu clan.
Days 8 - 10, Tuesday - Thursday - Maasai Mara
Fly to Maasai Mara for three unforgettable days of game
drives and exploration. Here, the greatest migration on the
planet takes place: millions of wildebeest, interspersed by
herds of zebra, journey to the lush pastures resulting from the
seasonal “long rains.” Lions, cheetahs, jackals and hyenas are
frequently spotted. Our stay is highlighted with a hot air
balloon safari high above the Maasai Mara.
Days 11 & 12, Friday & Saturday - Depart Nairobi
Fly to Kilimanjaro where we board a flight to Nairobi where
a day room is available until your evening departure for home.
