Days 1 - 4, Thursday - Sunday - Depart for Tunis & Dougga,
Tunisia
Depart from home on Thursday.

Travel to Sousse, known as “the Pearl of the Sahel,” to
discover ancient Casbah and the beautiful 8th-century Ribat.
Then explore Kairouan, one of the holiest places of Islam and

50 Mosques,” Kairouan is the oldest, most renowned carpet center
in Tunisia.
Days 6 - 8, Tuesday - Thursday - Sbeitla, Tozeur, Ong Jma,
Melaoui, Tamerza & Chebika

Board the romantic 19thcentury train, Le Lezard Rouge, to travel
through the famous Selja Gorges, and other magnificent canyons
inaccessible by road.
Days 9 & 10, Friday & Saturday - Chenini, Tataouine & Djerba
We skirt the edge of the Great Eastern Sandy Desert, with
its mesmerizing sea
of huge sand dunes, and pass the immense salt lake of Chott el-Jerid.
In Tataouine, we’ll visit ancient fortified granaries and
explore locations used in the first Star Wars film. Next, we
will stay on the beautiful resort Isle of Djerba, ringed by
miles of fine sandy beaches. We will visit one of the oldest
synagogues in the world.
Days 11 - 15, Sunday - Thursday - Valletta, Mdina & Gozo,

ruins of once-mighty Carthage sleep under desert skies. Explore
the arid landscape of the desert, stopping at oases perfumed
with scents of pomegranates, apples, and dates. The remains of
Roman garrisons, desert empires, and fabulous mosques tell
stories of life in this ancient land. Experience Malta’s
Valletta, where time itself seems to have stopped, and wonder at
the Neolithic ruins of Hagar Qim, perched on a cliff overlooking
