MADAGASCAR ITINERARY:
Days 1 - 4, Saturday - Tuesday - Depart for Antananarivo,
Madagascar
Depart from home on Saturday.
Explore the capital Antananarivo, or Tana as it’s known to the
locals. Visit
Ambohimanga Palace, home of the Merina kingdom, and visit a
family of traditional silk weavers. Enjoy a dinner and a
folkloric dance performance.
Days 5 & 6, Wednesday & Thursday - Berenty Reserve
Drive through the Spiny Forest, passing Baobab Trees and an
Antanosy graveyard on the way to Berenty Reserve. Meet the Catta,
or Ring-Tails, Sifakas and other lemurs, and keep your eyes and
ears open for exotic birds during day and evening explorations.
Days 7 & 8, Friday & Saturday - Perinet Reserve
Discover the eastern rainforest enroute to the Perinet
Reserve. Wake to the haunting call of the largest lemur, the
Indri. Hike into the rain forest to see an astonishing array of
lemurs, and encounter exotic birds and geckos. Explore a private
lemur island.
Day 9 - Diego Suarez
Fly to Diego Suarez and travel into the rainforest of
Montagne D’Ambre on Madagascar’s nothern tip. Discover the
wildlife of the private forest surrounding your secluded hotel.
Day 10, Monday - Ankarana Reserve
Explore the limestone pinnacles known as tsingy in the
Ankarana Reserve. Visit hillside caves and keep watch for the
elusive crown lemur.
Days 11 - 13, Tuesday - Thursday - Anjajavy
Explore Moramba Bay with its mushroom rock formations and
ancient baobab tree, a sacred place of worship for local people.
Visit a fishing village, or hike through the forest to get a
glimpse of rare birds, chameleons and more.
Days 14 & 15, Friday & Saturday - Antananarivo
Relax in Antananarivo with time to stroll the colorful La
Digue crafts market before your late evening flight home.

ACCOMMODATIONS |
NOTE: Madagascar is a remote, isolated part of the world.
Accommodations are the best available, but are natural in their
design, and most have only basic Western-style amenities.
Antananarivo, Hotel Colbert: A blend of French
tradition and Malagasy hospitality, the Hotel Colbert creates an
oasis of warmth and quality. The hotel is less than 1 mile from
the Business District, Prim Ministry Mausoleum, and less than 2
miles from the Queen Palace 2.0 km. The hotel has two
restaurants, as well as a café bar and patisserie. Other
services and amenities include a barber shop, beauty salon,
boutiques, a business center, conference facilities, concierge
desk, currency exchange, 24 hour front desk, disco, doctor on
call, drugstore, florist, exercise gym, health club, guest
laundromat, and a free newspaper.
There are 140 comfortable and well-equipped rooms and suites
with air conditioning, TV by satellite, magnetic key, individual
safe, mini-bar, direct telephone line, coffee maker, hairdryer,
room service 24 hours a day.
Berenty Reserve, Gite d’Etape Hotel: This remote
30-room accommodation is basic but comfortable. Built in the
colonial French style, the property is next to expansive Sisal
plantations. There is a large restaurant, an outside eating and
a small shop. The rooms are spacious but basic, equipped with
ceiling fans to cool the warm days. The electricity may be shut
off after 11pm.
Perinet Reserve, Vakona Forest Lodge: Situated in
the middle of the hotel, an open center fire place is the
principal support of the lodge’s restaurant – offering French,
Chinese and Malagasy dishes.
The design of the bungalows has been conceived in the local
Malagasy style of architecture and in harmony with its biotope.
A bathroom with toilet, a personal safety deposit box and a
mini-bar are in all rooms.
Montagne d’Ambre, Le Domaine de Fontenay: A century
old plantation, this property has been transformed into
exceptional place of reception and relaxation. The altitude of
the field of Fontenay, 760 meters audessus of the sea level,
ensures a healthy and particularly pleasant climate, making it
possible to rest heat of Diego-Suarez and coast. The restaurant,
Fontenay, offers authentic and refined cuisine, as well as
succulent grills with the barbecue.
Anjajavy, Anjajavy Relais Chateau Hotel: Set along
the Mozambique Channel in an extremely diverse environment where
flora and fauna offer a perfect reflection of Malagasy nature,
the hotel comprises an outstanding complex of 25 rosewood villas
facing the sea. The Anjajavy Hotel, is ranked by European
standards as a Four-Star plus establishment and is ideal for the

activities. The oasis, designed by Camille Muller, a well known
Parisian landscape designer who also has a deep love for
Madagascar, is the result of the search for harmony through all

plants, palm trees that are home to humming birds, lemurs,
malachite kingfishers and Malagasy foudis. A grid of vaporizers

facilities include a 200 sq.m. swimming pool, a boutique

The restaurant offers an international menu of fresh produce
with just of touch of Malagasy specialties.
Each villa features a large terrace overlooking the sea, a
living room area and breakfast area and a bedroom. A small
staircase provides access to the first floor which features a
relaxation room that can be used as an office or
children’s/guest room. The bathroom boasts a vast bath with
