                  PATRIOTS OF AMERICA
PATRIOTS OF AMERICA ITINERARY:

Day 1 – Arrive Philadelphia
Tour begins: 5:00 PM at Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing (airport transfers are not included). Welcome to Philadelphia, your first stop on America's historic “road to independence.” You may want to make plans to arrive early in the day to see the Liberty Bell and other landmark sights! Join us for a welcome dinner tonight. Meals D

Day 2 – From historic city landmarks to country treats
Your journey begins this morning with a tour of city sights; stop at Independence Hall in Independence National Historical Park, where delegates from the thirteen original colonies signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Step back in time more than one hundred years as you get a glimpse of daily life in Lancaster County, the heart of scenic Pennsylvania Dutch country. View Amish farms, where horse and plow are used instead of the tractor and where local residents live without modern-day conveniences. Get set for a special treat on an overnight in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the sweetest place in America! Note: Hershey Park is open for summer departures only; April and December departures (which total 7 days / 6 nights) will not visit Hershey, continuing on to Gettysburg instead. Meals BL

Day 3 – Explore Hershey Park & historic Gettysburg
Have fun learning the sweet secrets of chocolate-making – and how the Hershey Kiss got its name – this morning as you travel like a virtual cocoa bean through a candy factory in Hershey’s Chocolate World (summer departures only). Drive to Gettysburg National Military Park; the 20,000-acre battlefield is one of the most famous in the world and is the site of President Abraham Lincoln’s immortal Gettysburg Address. Experience poignant reminders of the Civil War as you tour the battlefields with a guide who shares insights about its most important conflicts – see where 70,000 men of the Confederate Army faced 93,000 Union soldiers under the command of General George Meade for three days in July of 1863, marking a major turning point of the war that divided friends and brothers. Meals BD

Day 4 – The history of the U.S. Marine Corps
Cross the infamous Mason-Dixon Line, best known as the historic divider between north and south, freedom and slavery as your journey through American history continues. A visit to the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Virginia, lets you follow in the footsteps of the U.S. Marines through interactive exhibits that chronicle the history and accomplishments of these brave American patriots. Your destination for the next two nights is Colonial Williamsburg, where 18th-century America comes alive right before your eyes. Sample an authentic taste of typical 18th-century fare at a colonial tavern tonight. Meals BD

Day 5 – Life in Colonial Williamsburg
Experience life on the eve of the American Revolution in Colonial Williamsburg; go inside colonial houses and shops, and meet families as they go about their daily chores without electricity, hot running water, telephones, computers or television! Take an intriguing walk tonight as you listen to legends about early America. Meals B

Day 6 – George Washington’s house at Mount Vernon
Travel to historic Mount Vernon today for a guided tour of George Washington’s beloved plantation overlooking the Potomac River; explore his house and learn what life was like for the “Father of Our Country.” This afternoon, venture into the nation’s capital, stopping at the International Spy Museum to learn about the role spies have played in world events throughout history. Meals BLD

Day 7 – The national monuments of Washington, DC
Discover famous national landmarks today on a guided tour that takes you to the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the United States Capitol Building, ending with a visit to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. See objects from real events that helped shape America, including the original Star Spangled Banner and President Lincoln’s trademark top hat. This afternoon, explore the city on your own, perhaps visiting the Air and Space Museum, or the National Mall. Join us for a farewell dinner. Meals BD
