INTRODUCTION
Friendly and courteous service is
the hallmark of a journey on the Eastern
& Oriental Express, from the moment you
are welcomed aboard. A quarter of a mile
in length, the air-conditioned gleaming
green and cream carriages evoke the
great age of luxury train travel and are
a world of opulence and fine
craftsmanship.
Time aboard the train is full of
diversions. In the Dining Cars, waiters
present gourmet Asian and European
dishes and fine wines in gleaming
crystal and silverware. The Bar Car with
its resident pianist and variety of
local entertainment provides a special
opportunity to meet fellow travellers.

In the Saloon car, the Boutique
sells a range of exclusive Collection Eastern &
Oriental Express merchandise, and there is also
a Reading Room with a varied library. The most
popular place on board however, is the open
decked Observation Car, which provides an
unbeatable opportunity to enjoy the beautiful
scenery.
The E&O accommodates 132 passengers in 66
air-conditioned compartments, all furnished with
beautiful fabrics, fine linens and soft towels,
and a friendly room service is available 24
hours a day.

► COMPARTMENTS

Accommodation on board the Eastern & Oriental
Express is in one of three grades of beautifully
appointed compartments: Presidential Suite, State
Compartments and Pullman Compartments. All are
air-conditioned, have an en suite shower room, washbasin
and WC. During dinner your steward will transform your
compartment from daytime seating to a comfortable
bedroom. Large windows offer excellent views of the
ever-changing countryside. Facilities include a 24-hour
steward service, international electric sockets (220
volts) and 110 volt adapter for razors, personal safe
and hairdryer. The Presidential Suite also has a
complimentary bar.

► DINING
Chefs on board the Eastern & Oriental Express are
internationally renowned for their ability to create a
tantalizing variety of Eastern and European dishes,
using the finest fresh seasonal ingredients. Service
equals the world's finest restaurants. Lunch and dinner
are served in the two Restaurant Cars, each lavishly
decorated with rosewood and elm paneling. Each morning a
breakfast of freshly baked croissants, coffee or tea,
juice and fruit is delivered to your compartment and for
those passengers wishing to rise early to take advantage
of the beautiful scenery, tea and coffee will be served
for you in the Observation Car from 7.00am onwards.
Afternoon tea, in true colonial style, with aromatic
Earl Grey tea and cakes will be served in your
compartment.

OBSERVATION CAR
As you journey through the tropical countryside and
jungle terrain, past ancient temples, rivers and rice
paddies experience the ever-changing scenery from the
open-sided Observation Car.
Another of the other many pleasures of your journey is
meeting your fellow passengers and the Observation Car,
perhaps the most popular carriage on board, provides a
perfect opportunity to relax and socialize. The
Observation Car also has a lounge bar with a colonial
‘verandah’ ambience with its wooden flooring and chairs
and sofas. |

BAR CAR
At the end of your day relax and socialize with your
fellow passengers in the Bar Car and listen to the
sounds of the piano from the resident pianist. The bar
is open throughout the day and late into the night for
the service of cocktails, aperitifs and liqueurs and
local entertainment is performed in the evenings.
Enjoy a relaxing drink such as a Shanghai Express, a
delicious cocktail of Bourbon, Amaretto, Southern
Comfort, Orange and Lime Juice and Grenadine Syrup.
