                    TANZANIA MIGRATION
TANZANIA MIGRATION - THE LEGENDARY MIGRATION ITINERARY:

Day 1
U.S. / En Route
Depart the U.S. on our connecting flight to Tanzania. (Meals Aloft)

Day 2
En Route / Arusha
Transfer to our flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania. We are met on arrival by our safari guides and then drive to Dik Dik Hotel for the night. (Meals Aloft)

Day 3
Arusha National Park
Following breakfast we drive to nearby Arusha National Park, on the slopes of Mt. Meru, with exceptional landscapes and unique plants characteristic of the high altitude. The park is home to the rare black and white colobus monkey. There is a crater with no roads that is a sanctuary for flora and fauna. We’ll look for vervet monkey, baboon, elephant, red forest duiker, hyena, giraffe, bush pig and jackal, as well as migrant birds. We return to the Dik Dik for the night. (B,L,D)

Day 4
Lake Manyara National Park
In the morning we drive to Mto Wa Mbu and visit the village. In the afternoon we have a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Notice the dramatic change in habitat as grasslands give way to ground water forests featuring sausage trees and strangler figs. We overnight at the beautiful Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, perched almost 2,000 feet above Lake Manyara. (B,L,D)

Days 5 & 6
Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast we enjoy a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park before we drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Explore Ngorongoro Crater, where an abundance of food and fresh water make it possible for 30,000 large mammals to live. This is the only place in East Africa where one can easily observe a natural population of black rhino. Our home for the next two nights is the magnificent Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, located on the crater’s rim. (B,L,D Daily)

Days 7-9
Serengeti National Park
Today we head for the Serengeti, en route visiting Olduvai Gorge, where the Leakey family unearthed thousands of fossil bones and stone tools. We arrive late in the afternoon at the Serengeti Plains, home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on Earth. We spend three nights at our private mobile tented camp, which will be situated closest to the migrating herds during this time. Take morning and afternoon game drives. (B,L,D Daily)

Day 10
Serengeti National Park / Arusha / En Route
Following our last game drive this morning we fly back to Arusha, where dayrooms await us at the Dik Dik Hotel. We enjoy shopping and dinner before returning to the airport for our connecting flight to the U.S. (B,L,D)

The Serengeti grasslands may be the greatest reservoir of plains game on Earth. Here we will see one of Earth’s greatest wildlife spectacles, the Great Migration. March is the perfect time of the year to go, when the wildlife is most abundant and the wildebeest calves are just born. And our private mobile tented camp will be situated where wildlife is most prolific at the time of your visit. We’ll visit Lake Manyara (famous for tree-climbing lions), which sits below a tall escarpment, and Olduvai Gorge, where the Leakey family discovered remains of human ancestors. As with all our journeys, you will be accompanied by expert guides who will greatly enhance your experience. Join us for all this...and more.
