TANZANIA DISCOVERY ITINERARY:
Day 1: Depart USA
Depart on your journey to Dar es Salaam, gateway to southern
Tanzania.
Day 2: London / Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
Relax in your dayroom in London until your evening flight to
Africa. Dayroom
Day 3: Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
Arrive this morning in Tanzania. Travel along the northern
boundary of Selous Game Reserve, before reaching the Kilombero
Valley. Arrive refreshed at Mikumi and your camp, set on a rocky
kopje on the Mkata flood plain. It overlooks a waterhole and
offers the best game viewing in the park. Foxes Safari Camp (L,D)
Day 4: Mikumi National Park
Spend the day observing wildlife, rich in birds and big
game, including rare wild dog, sable and greater kudu. Stop for
lunch at Vuma Hills Camp, then journey slowly back to your
intimate camp. Savor the sensation of being up close to wild

Day 5: Mikumi & Udzungwa Mountain National Park
Depart for a day in Udzungwa Forest. Few visitors come to
this remote park, known for its walking and hiking trails. Watch
for the bizarre giant elephant shrew and the rare red colobus
monkey. It is also possible to see water buffalo, elephants,
leopards, reptiles (such as chameleon and snakes), Sanje crested
mangabey monkey, and black and yellow baboon. The park is now
one of the top ten forests for bird conservation in Africa.

Day 6: Mikumi National Park / Katavi National Park
Fly west to Katavi, a little-traveled gem for connoisseur
Africa travelers seeking remote places and the finest wildlife
encounters. Transfer to your exclusive camp among the trees,
with prime views of the busy floodplain. Katavi Wildlife Camp (B,L,D)
Days 7 & 8: Katavi National Park
Wildlife surrounds you on walks and drives in Katavi. The
combination of fewer visitors and Tanzania’s highest
concentration of game makes this an extraordinary African
adventure. For two days, you have the opportunity to explore
floodplains rich in birds and masses of big game including
southern mammals such as puku, sable and tsessebe. Katavi

Day 9: Katavi National Park / Southern Highlands
Fly to a seldom visited park in the southern highlands.
Share an authentic experience of rural life in Tanzania. Enjoy
the activities of a large private estate, or just take time to
relax in your cozy log cabin overlooking cool lakes stocked with

Day 10: Southern Highlands
Today is yours to golf, ride horses, try mountain biking or
fly fishing. Enjoy bird watching or nature walks. Shop for

Day 11: Southern Highlands / Ruaha National Park
Take a short flight to Ruaha Park, where game viewing begins
as soon as the plane lands. Giraffe and zebra may cross the
runway, or you may glimpse an elephant in the distance. Ruaha
has an estimated 10,000 elephants, more than any other East
African national park. This is an ecological crossroads where
northern and southern species mingle. Your camp consists of 20
stone-andthatch cottages, each with en suite bathrooms. Game
viewing can often be done right from your door in this pristine

Days 12 & 13: Ruaha National Park
Explore this fascinating park on early-morning and
late-afternoon game drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles. Guides take
you to hippo pools, ancient baobab forests filled with monkeys
and baboons, valleys abundant with elephants and all the big
cats. You see klipspringers and hyraxes along rocky slopes, and
visit rivers with superb of antelope and other animals. Ruaha

Day 14: Ruaha National Park / Dar Es Salaam
Depart by air to Dar es Salaam. Holiday Inn (B)
Day 15: Dar Es Salaam / Depart
Transfer to the airport for your morning flight to London,
where you connect onward to the USA, arriving tonight.
