HOLLAND BIKING ITINERARY
Trip Length: 6 days/5 nights
Start/Finish: Amsterdam/Kruiningen
The Dutch masters were inspired by the very landscapes we visit
in western Holland. How could they not have been? Farm roads
weave their way through flat polder, where windmills appear
almost magically, and quaint cities built hundreds of years ago
are all just begging to be explored. And what more natural way
to discover Holland than by bike? From the rolling dunes of the
coast to the country's Groene Hart, we'll see it all on two
wheels. Trip Highlights:
- Tour the Dutch bulb fields while our local guide tells
us everything we need to know about tulips (spring
departures only)
- Bike to Leiden, a beautiful city on the Rhine and
birthplace of Rembrandt
- Explore Gouda, including a tour of St. Jans church with
its famous stained-glass windows
- Cycle to the world-famous 19 windmills of Kinderdijk
- Enjoy an exceptional traditional dinner with our hosts
at Manoir Inter Scaldes, Jannes and Claudia

Accommodations:
Hotel Des Indes, The Hague
A former palace dating from the 19th century, the Hotel Des
Indes is located on the beautiful Lange Voorhout, near the
medieval centre of Binnenhof and the Mauritshuis Museum.
Hotel de Arendshoeve, Bergambacht
The Arendshoeve is a newly built hotel next to an old windmill
where we receive a very warm welcome--and a tasting of Dutch
jenever (gin), followed by regional specialties in the Onder de
Molen (“Under the Windmill”) restaurant. We’ll also have time to
relax in the whirlpool and sauna, or take advantage of the
hotel’s small spa.
Manoir Inter Scaldes, Kruiningen
Relais & Châteaux
Situated on a former island between two estuaries, Inter Scaldes
is arguably the most charming hotel in the Netherlands. Our
hosts, Jannes and Claudia Brevet, have successfully continued
the tradition of hospitality and fine cuisine inherited from the
founders, the Boudelings.
