PIEMONTE WALKING ITINERARY
Trip Length: 6 days/5 nights
Start/Finish: Turin/Turin
Probably one of the reasons we love Piemonte (aka Piedmont) so
much is that it’s entirely undiscovered and underrated. It feels
like our find, and the modest Piemontese welcome us with warm
arms (not to mention full plates). We think of it as the
Burgundy of Italy; a place where everyone seems to love, if not
work, the land. On a clear day, our walks through the Langhe and
Roero hills feature views of the Maritime Alps. The superb
cuisine is both homey and refined – enough so to earn the region
more Michelin stars than any other. Perhaps best of all, the
renowned vineyards of Barolo and Barbaresco provide superb
walking – and even better sipping. Trip Highlights:
- Dine on the creations of siblings Ivana and Davide
Palluda at Michelin-starred All’Enoteca
- Shop for handmade leather shoes or Barolo, then walk
through Alba with our local guide
- Meet a trifulao (truffle hunter) for some insight into
the nature of the hunt
- Walk to the village of Barolo for a tasting lunch at the
oldest Barolo-making cantina
- Enjoy a grape- or wine-based treatment at Relais San
Maurizio’s luxury spa
