ITALIAN LAKES WALKING ITINERARY
Trip Length: 7 days/6 nights
Start/Finish: Milan/Milan Settling in for dinner on the
shores of Lago Maggiore we cannot help our wonderment at the
contrasts swirling around us: the shimmering lights of lakeside
palazzi dance deftly at the foot of the rugged Alps as we enjoy
a delicate dish of fresh fish dockside at our luxury hotel,
flanked by alpine homes and their mountain people inhabitants.
Another contrast: Where much of Italy is built for bikes, the
Lakes are made to be explored by boat and foot – it's a fitting
enhancement to the romance of a region that has been a
playground of the glitterati for decades.
Trip Highlights:
- Take in all three Italian Lakes from the top of Mt.
Mottarone before beginning your journey
- Tour the palace, galleries and gardens of Isola Bella
- Trace Hemingway's A Farewell To Arms route along the
western shore of Lago Maggiore by private boat
- Wake the promenades of the elegant city of Lugano,
Switzerland, before settling down to a totally unique Swiss
dining experience
- Hike down Mt. Bré – the views are incomparable – after
riding a circa 1908 cog railway to the top
- Explore chic Bellagio, “the pearl of Lake Como”
