GIRO D'ITALIA BIKING ITINERARY
Trip Length: 7 days/6 nights
Start/Finish: Treviso/Bolzano
The Giro d’Italia is much more than a knockoff of its more
famous French cousin. It is a rite of spring Italian-style, with
a character and lore all its own. This year keen cyclists can
shadow Italy’s big race, hop on a customized Cannondale and ride
into the heart of the majestic Dolomites in the hallowed tracks
of the legendary Fausto Coppi. Along the way we’ll interact not
just with his successors, but also with the hordes of fans who
share our passion.
B&R has been running trips that coincide with major biking
events for years, and we know what it takes to make the
logistics work just right. Trip Highlights:
- Bike the rolling, picturesque hill country of Veneto,
homeland of prosecco—Italy’s famed sparkling wines
- Catch the dramatic final chases at the finish lines of
several stages, including the crucial Plan de Corones
mountain stage, where we'll enjoy a brilliant picnic lunch
- Tackle the towering summit of Monte Grappa, a
1,776-metre peak considered the Holy Grail of local rides
- Pedal into the heart of the Dolomites, a magnificent
backdrop for the climb through the mighty Passo di Giau
- Negotiate the spine-tingling downhill switchbacks on the
descent into the spa town of Merano
- Visit the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, home to
Ötzi, a 3,000-year-old ice mummy
