                IRELAND WITH THE KIDS
IRELAND WITH THE KIDS:  AGES 8+

Trip Length:
6 days/5 nights
Start/Finish: Galway/Galway or Shannon

Castles with secret passageways, tales of faerie folk and Celtic heroes – Ireland is everything a curious young traveler could dream of (and parents appear to be equally enchanted). Fables aside, during this trip true-life adventures abound, whether it’s biking, golfing, juggling, fishing, breaking into song at the local pub or even a whiskey tasting for mom and dad. Perhaps it’s all that fresh air or maybe it’s all the sheep that get counted during the morning bike ride, but many of our young travelers report that bedtime just feels better in Ireland.

Trip Highlights:

  • Trek by pony across the white sand beaches of the Atlantic Coast
  • Breathe in the beauty of the Connemara coastline on two wheels
  • Dine on classic Irish specialties in our cozy fishing lodge
  • See how birds of prey are handled and flown at a falconry demonstration at our hotel
  • Curl up with bedtime stories in a castle tucked away in a private forest
  • Balance quality family time with some vacation fun just for the grown-ups

Lough Inagh Lodge, Connemara
Nestled in a picturesque setting between the Twelve Bens mountains and the Maum Turk Mountain Range, this cozy fishing lodge boasts some very important features – its own pub, comfortable lounges, and killer views.

Rosleague Manor Hotel, Letterfrack
Located on Ballynakil Bay, a sheltered inlet of the Atlantic, the house is over 200 years old. The log fires in the family-run hotel will keep you warm as you stare out the front windows at the gorgeous views of both the ocean and the Twelve Bens mountain range.

Ashford Castle, Cong
Relais & Châteaux

Set amidst 140 hectares (350 acres) of private woodland on the shores of Lough Corrib, the 13thC Ashford Castle was purchased by the Guinness family in 1852 (and remembered by some for President Reagan’s stay here in the 1980s). Its beautiful grounds and golf course are surpassed only by the opulent Connaught dining room.
