PRAGUE TO VIENNA BIKING ITINERARY
Trip Length: 7 days/6 nights
Start/Finish: Prague/Vienna
In travel, there is nothing quite like exploring a society in
the midst of change, and nowhere is change quite as obvious as
amid the sun-dappled fairy-tale forests, fortress villages and
winding, little-travelled roads of Bohemia.
A hearty bowl of goulash and a pint of Pilsner enjoyed over
candlelight in a private library; pedalling through fields of
wildflowers into thousand-year-old riverside towns of the
Kamptal wine region; an afternoon spent at the spa before dinner
with Count and Countess Kottulinsky at Schlosshotel
Obermayerhofen – this is Bohemian chic.
Trip Highlights:
- Cycle the delightfully flat paths along the Danube
River, surrounded by vineyards
- Have cocktails with our expat friend, and learn his
unique perspective on the history of Ceskı Krumlov
- Enjoy musical performances in each of the three distinct
regions we visit
- Dine at the legendary Landhaus Bacher restaurant
- Try your hand at medieval sharpshooting with Count
Kottulinsky at the remarkable Schlosshotel Obermayerhofen

Accommodations:
Hotel Ruze, Ceskı Krumlov
The Hotel Ruze is the best hotel in Ceskı Krumlov.
Constructed as a 16thC Jesuit Monastery in the Renaissance
style, it is now a comfortable (though not luxury) hotel with a
beautiful view of the village, the river and surrounding hills.
Enjoy this vista from the restaurant terrace as you reward
yourself for today’s ride with a velke pivo (a large beer).
Hotel Richard Löwenherz, Dürnstein
Founded on the site of a 700-year-old Clarissinian Abbey, the
Richard Löwenherz is now a hotel with richly historical
interiors filled with antiques, Renaissance sculpture, elegant
chandeliers and stone vaulting. We are well looked after by Frau
Theiry and her staff, who quickly make us feel at home whether
we’re lounging in the living room with an after-dinner schnapps,
lazing in the rose garden by the pool, or enjoying a sunny
breakfast on the arbor-covered terrace overlooking the Danube.
Schlosshotel Obermayerhofen, Styria
We are the only travel company with access to the
Schlosshotel Obermayerhofen, an impressive castle-cum-hotel
owned by Count and Countess Kottulinsky. The castle has been in
the family for 300 years and offers elegant rooms with hillside
views of their private park and lake. It also offers B&R guides
absolute peace of mind knowing that all requests--big, small or
downright quirky--will be taken care of by our gracious and
interesting hosts.
