DAY 1: USA or Canada/Shanghai, China
Depart on an overnight flight to Shanghai.
DAY 2: Shanghai
After clearing arrival formalities, you are met and
transferred to your hotel. The Westin Bund Center, Shanghai
DAY 3: Shanghai
Explore China's "city of the future" with a walk along the
Bund, and then stroll through Yu Gardens and the Old Town. After
lunch, visit the Shanghai Museum and Urban Planning Museum.
Tonight, join fellow travellers at a welcome dinner. The Westin

DAY 4: Shanghai/Lijiang
An early morning flight brings you to Lijiang, the gateway
to the alpine wonders of Yunnan, China's mountainous
southwestern province. After settling into your exquisite
resort, with panoramic views of the majestic Jade Dragon Snow
Mountain, embark on a walking tour of Lijiang's historic Old
Town.

DAY 5: Lijiang
Today's explorations include two ethnic Naxi villages:
Baisha was the first capital of the Naxi Kingdom and Longquan is
a tranquil community. This evening, attend a traditional Naxi

DAY 6: Lijiang/Ringha
This morning, set off on the drive along the great Yunnan/Tibet
Highway travelling north to Ringha. Stop at the charming village
of Shigu (Stone Drum) that sits above the historic first bend in
the Yangzi River, and the stunning Tiger Leaping Gorge where the
thundering waters of the Yangzi cut one of the most dramatic
gorges in the world. Late this afternoon arrive at your resort.

DAY 7: Ringha/Zhongdian/Ringha
A full day of exploration includes visits to Songzangling
Monastery and the village of Ringha.

DAY 8: Zhongdian/Lhasa/Tsedang
After a morning flight to Lhasa, continue by road to Tsedang,
Tibet's pre-Buddhist cultural center. Tsedang Hotel B L D
DAY 9: Tsedang/Lhasa
Begin the day with a visit to the ancient 8th-century Samye
Monastery. Water levels permitting, continue to the banks of the
sacred Yarlong Tsampo River and board a traditional wooden
pilgrim's boat for the river crossing. Travel overland to Lhasa.

DAYS 10-11: Lhasa
Spend two full days exploring fascinating Lhasa. Visit the
towering 7th-century Potala Palace ("Buddha's Mountain") and the
Jokhang Temple, spiritual center of the country. Also visit the
15th-century Sera and Drepung monasteries. This evening join
fellow travellers over farewell cocktails and dinner. Lhasa

DAY 12: Lhasa/Chengdu/Shanghai
Fly to Chengdu, connecting to Shanghai. This evening, enjoy

Transfer to the airport to board your homebound flight. B
