
BORDEAUX, PROVENCE & THE RIVIERA ITINERARY:
DAYS 1-2: USA or Canada/Bordeaux, France
Depart on an overnight flight to Bordeaux. The afternoon is
at leisure before meeting your fellow travellers for welcome

DAY 3: Bordeaux/Médoc Region/Bordeaux
Explore Bordeaux's quaint old town - the Place de la Bourse,
Place du Parlement and the Cathedral of St. André - before
taking a leisurely drive through the Médoc region. After lunch,
stop at a wine-producing château, then return to the hotel. Dine

DAY 4: Bordeaux/St. Emilion/Bordeaux
Explore the picturesque medieval village of St. Emilion,
boasting a "subterranean town" with a 10th-century, rock-carved
monolithic church. After lunch at a charming auberge, visit a
beautiful wine-producing château for a wine tasting. Your
afternoon is at leisure before an à la carte dinner at your

DAY 5: Bordeaux/Toulouse/Carcassonne
Stop in Toulouse to see the St. Sernin Basilica, the largest
Romanesque basilica in Europe; the Place du Capitole; and the
Jacobin monastery. Continue toward Carcassonne to your hotel, a

DAY 6: Carcassonne/Nimes/Avignon
Visit the impressive walled citadel of Carcassonne and
continue toward Nimes. After lunch explore its Roman arena and
the first-century BC Roman temple, Maison Carrée. Continue to
Avignon and check in to your hotel, a 17th-century former
cardinal's mansion nestled under the mighty Palace of the Popes.

DAY 7: Avignon
Explore the 14th-century Palace of the Popes. After lunch
Design Your Day: visit the collection of antiquities and objets
d'art at the Musée Calvet or join a local specialist on a
shopping tour for Provençal antiques and accessories. Hotel La

DAY 8: Avignon/St-Remy-de-Provence/ Arles/Avignon
Travel through the countryside that inspired Van Gogh and
stop at St. Paul de Mausole, where he was voluntarily interned
for a year. Sit down to a rustic lunch at a Provençal farm,
owned by the same family for generations. Continue to Arles and
wander amid the ruins of its Roman amphitheater and cathedral.

DAY 9: Avignon/Aix-en-Provence/Cannes
Drive to quaint Aix-en-Provence. Stroll through the Old Town
and visit Cézanne's atelier (studio), untouched since his 1906
death. After lunch continue to fashionable Cannes on the Côte

DAY 10: Cannes/Biot/St-Paul-de-Vence/ Cannes
Visit the famous Biot Glassworks, where the region's famous
"bubbled" glass is produced as it has been since the 18th
century. Stop at Chapelle du Rosaire, which Matisse considered
to be the culmination of his life's work, then have lunch in the
medieval artists' colony of St-Paul-de-Vence. Later, join your
fellow travellers for a farewell dinner at the hotel.

DAY 11: Cannes/Nice/St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat/ Monte Carlo/Cannes
Explore Nice before joining an artist in his studio, then
have lunch in a nearby bistro. Continue to St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to
see Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild's collection of objets d'art
and lovely gardens. Follow the famous Corniche Road to Monte
Carlo, glimpse the royal family's Palais Princier, visit the
magnificent 19th-century cathedral and perhaps stop at the
famous casino. Return to Cannes for farewell drinks.
