ACCOMMODATES UP TO 8 GUESTS:
This villa exudes a contemporary and fashionable feel in the
heart of the Tuscan countryside, perfect for a group of friends
looking for a chic Tuscan holiday.
Villa Scannagallo is designed as a smaller version of its sister
property Villa Fontelunga. Well designed to accommodate a small
group of friends or family, this charming two-story house
features a large open-plan living room, dining area, and kitchen
that is well equipped with all modern amenities.
Walk from the dining area directly to the landscaped gardens, a
terrace and a stunning infinity swimming pool with dramatic
views over the countryside. A gazebo provides the perfect spot
for a classic Tuscan al fresco meal, while the secluded valley
location invites you to roam the surrounding countryside at
will. Three air-conditioned, en suite bedrooms occupy the second
floor, with a doublebedded room and smaller bedroom (or study)
on the ground floor. The interior combines traditional beamed
ceilings and stone flooring with graceful contemporary Italian
accents and decoration. Modern conveniences extend to the stereo
CD player, TV, DVD player (DVDs available on request), telephone
and Internet access. Villa Scannagallo is close to the
spectacular hilltop villages of Cortona, Montepulciano,
Montalcino and Pienza, as well as about an hour drive from Siena
and Perugia.
ACTIVITIES NEARBY: The villa is close to many
spectacular hilltop villages as well as the cities of Siena and
Florence. Here are just a few places to visit while staying at
Villa Scannagallo:
Arezzo: A commercial city with a beautiful historic
walled center is the capital of the province. It is well known
for its monthly antiques fair on the first weekend of each month
as well as the Peiro della Francesca frescoes.
Cortona: This is probably one of the prettiest and most
delightful of the Tuscan hilltop towns. It is particularly
beautiful in the late afternoon and early evening - perfect for
a stroll and to take in the sunset. Cortona has stunning views
over the Val di Chiana towards Lago Trasimeno.
Montepulciano: This in an incredibly elegant walled town
that offers spectacular views and a wonderful renaissance and
medieval main square. Enotecas just inside the gates are great
for purchasing local wines if you do not have time to visit the
wineries themselves. At the top of the town a beautiful square
and the San Biagio church outside the city wall are both worth a
visit.
Montalcino: Another very elegant walled town offers
spectacular views and is well known for its Brunello Wine. The
surrounding area of Montalcino contains many well known wineries
that are worth a visit and best to book in advance.
Siena: This beautiful medieval city has a stunning duomo
and the historic square which is the setting for the famous
horse race in July & August. The museum next to the duomo offers
a breathtaking panorama of the rooftops and surrounding
countryside of Siena
San Gimignano: Approximately 30 minutes from Siena, this
village is worth a visit just to view the medieval towers that
once made it Italy's answer to Manhattan. For those who do not
like crowds, San Gimignano may be best viewed from afar to take
in the skyline
Chianti: Take a drive though the Chianti countryside and
stop off at any number of idyllic small towns: Radda in Chianti,
Castellina in Chianti just to name a few. Set aside a whole day
to explore this delightful area at a leisurely pace.
