ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA:  Situated in the Pisa province, Villa La Veduta is perfectly placed for exploring the nearby attractions that Pisa, Florence and Siena have to offer. On a fertile alluvial plain, this area is extremely beautiful and characterized by generous amounts of foliage, typically olive groves and wooded areas as well as a large number of vineyards that produce delicious local wine.

Nearby Pisa plays a main role from an artistic point of view, with such important monuments as the Campo dei Miracoli (Piazza Duomo), a perfect example of Romanesque-Pisan art. In the square stands the world famous Leaning Tower, on which building began in 1173. There is plenty of opportunity to observe the local pottery and glass being made and there are often art exhibitions which offer the perfect occasion for some souvenir shopping. World famous for its cuisine, Italy serves up another delight with Pisa offering an eclectic mix of restaurants to satisfy any palate.

With Florence just over an hour's drive away, a day-trip to Italy's 'capital of art' is a must for any guest of Villa La Veduta. See Michelangelo's David in the academia art gallery, enjoy a visit to the world famous Uffizi Museum, and stroll through the Piazza Signoria with its impressive medieval buildings. For a break from the heat of the city, enjoy an ice cream as you wander through Boboli gardens. The picturesque, hilltop towns of Volterra and San Gimignano are also just 28 miles away, with narrow streets and magnificent medieval towers, built by the noble families of the day as a symbol of their wealth and power.

For the food lovers, local farms selling some of Tuscany's best olive oil are on your doorstep, and there are open air markets in one village or another almost every day of the week. A visit to one of the famous vineyards in the vicinity (such as Tenuta di Ghizzano and Tenuta di Valgiano) gives a unique opportunity to view the wine making process from beginning to end…and purchase a few bottles for the evening dinner.

For the more active, there is excellent walking in the hills around your villa. Horse-back riding and mountain biking can also be organized, and several 18 hole golf courses are within a 30/40 minute drive. And last but not least, there is the shopping! The outlet stores near Arezzo provide endless retail therapy opportunities, and then there are the leather goods and hand made paper that Florence is so famous for and the wonderful olive oil that is produced throughout the region.
