'LA BONEE AMIE' -
UPPER LOIRE ITINERARY:
SUNDAY
Meet at the hotel chosen by the chartering party and
travel by private vehicle to Montargis to board 'La Bonne
Amie.' After a welcome reception, enjoy a short cruise
before dinner on board.
MONDAY
This morning, cruise from Amilly to Montbouy, an old
Gallo-Roman site. Possible excursions include Fontainebleau,
the magnificent royal residence dating from the 12th
century, and the Impressionist villages of Barbizon and
Moret-sur-Loing.
TUESDAY
Today's cruise is to Châtillon Coligny with its
12th-century château built by the Count of Sancerre to
overlook the town. Possible excursions include L'Arboretum
National des Barres with its more than 10,000 specimens and
the town of Gien, known for its earthenware.
WEDNESDAY
'La Bonne Amie' makes its way to Rogny to moor at the
foot of the staircase of seven locks, an impressive monument
to engineering of the past. Possible excursions include the
extraordinary Château de St-Fargeau and the Château de la
Bussière, a private castle in the middle of a lake.
THURSDAY
From Rogny, cruise to Ouzouer-sur-Trézée with its gothic
church and picturesque wooden houses. Possible excursions
include Briare with its porcelain buttons museum and
Guédelon, where an authentic medieval castle is being
constructed using 13th-century techniques.
FRIDAY
Cruise across the splendid aqueduct over the River Loire
to the peaceful village of Châtillonsur- Loire. Possible
excursions include a wine tasting at a private cellar in the
charming village of Sancerre and a visit to a farm that
produces goat cheese.
SATURDAY
After breakfast, transfer back to Paris by private
vehicle.
Note: This route is run in reverse on alternate
weeks.
Excursions on charter departures can be tailor-made to suit
guests' interests.
