WINGS OVER KENYA ITINERARY:

DAYS 1-2: USA or Canada/Nairobi, Kenya
Arrive in Nairobi where you are met by an Abercrombie & Kent representative and transferred to your hotel.  Norfolk Hotel

DAY 3: Nairobi/Amboseli National Park
After breakfast this morning, board your flight to Amboseli National Park where your safari begins. Famous for its big game and superb views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, spend your first afternoon in the park viewing this spectacular area.

Amboseli is comprised of four basic wildlife habitats: acacia woodland, fresh water swamps, scrub brush and open plains. Combine all of these elements with the backdrop of Kilimanjaro and the park is truly a photographer's paradise.

After your game drive, return to camp during an African sunset.  Tortilis Camp B L D

DAY 4: Amboseli National Park

Spend a full day on safari. As the first rays of sunlight reflect off the white snow of Mount Kilimanjaro, you may come upon two male giraffe fighting over a female or a group of warthog running headlong with their tails raised like antennae. Or perhaps you will witness a lion kill. At dawn all the animals are moving, so it is the most exciting time to view wildlife.

Enjoy a specially arranged visit to the renowned Amboseli Elephant Research Project, started by Dr. Cynthia Moss over 30 years ago to study elephants and their conservation. An afternoon game drive is an excellent time to look for lion and cheetah, who begin to stir from the shade and roam onto the plains in search of prey.

DAY 5: Amboseli/Nairobi/Samburu Game Reserve

Fly to the Samburu Game Reserve, arriving in time for a leisurely lunch at your camp. Take to the bush this afternoon to view the wildlife unique to this area, including the majestic beisa oryx, the reticulated giraffe, the thin-striped Grevy's zebra and the "giraffe-necked" gerenuk antelope, which stands on its hind legs to feed.

Return to your camp, nestled among the trees on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, as the day comes to an end.  Larsen's Camp B L D

DAY 6: Samburu Game Reserve

Spend the morning and afternoon game viewing in this beautiful and unusual area. Watch crocodile basking on the muddy riverbanks and vervet monkey frolicking in the late afternoon sun. While here, you have the opportunity to meet Samburu villagers who introduce you to their culture and way of life, including their unique family dynamics and aspirations.  Larsen's Camp B L D

DAY 7: Samburu/Masai Mara Game Reserve

Fly across the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Masai Mara is the culmination of your safari. This reserve contains the largest concentration of big game in Kenya and the delicate ecosystem is the focus of world attention in a major effort to conserve and preserve one of the last true strongholds of African game.

The mobile tented camp is the traditional, time-honored way to enjoy the African wilderness, evoking the romance of a bygone era. Your campsites are set in the most spectacular areas for game viewing, where your group and the wildlife are the only guests around. After a late-afternoon game drive, return to camp for dinner. Enjoy a delicious meal prepared by your chef, then warm yourself by a roaring campfire with your favorite after-dinner drink.  Exclusive A&K Mobile Tented Camp B L D

DAYS 8-9: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Spend two exciting days driving across the limitless plains in search of the abundant game in one of Kenya's most spectacular areas. Running along the Tanzanian border, the Mara forms an essential part of the Serengeti ecosystem. Here lies the destination of the annual wildebeest migration, where more than one million wildebeest, accompanied by zebra and gazelle, march north to graze the Mara's lush grasses. Embark on game drives in search of lion, elephant, giraffe and impala. Your knowledgeable guides and drivers are experts in finding and identifying the wildlife you came to see and make sure you have the best possible view of the Mara's flora and fauna. A&K's customized Land Rovers are equipped with oversized windows that wrap the entire vehicle, giving everyone a "front row" view.

On your final evening, join your fellow travellers for a memorable farewell dinner - a perfect opportunity to toast the end of your journey.
