SIGNATURE ALASKA ITINERARY:

DAY 1: Anchorage, Alaska
Arrive in Anchorage and transfer to your hotel. Your program has been carefully designed to combine the best lodge properties with the freedom to select from a variety of activities to suit your individual preferences. Begin your adventure this afternoon on a private visit with a famed Alaskan artist at his homestead where you view his collection of work and sample local specialties. Hotel Captain Cook

DAY 2: Anchorage/Winterlake
Transfer to Lake Hood for a flight to Winterlake Lodge with the opportunity for flightseeing near Mount McKinley en route. Your remote lodge, located along the western edge of the Alaska Range and a checkpoint on the historic Iditarod Trail, features just five private guest cabins. After lunch try hiking, canoeing, fishing or dog sledding (sled on wheels). Join fellow travellers for a wine tasting in the bar and then sit down to gourmet dinner. Winterlake Lodge B L D

DAY 3: Winterlake
Participate in your choice of guided activities at the lodge. If you prefer to relax, try yoga, massage therapy, the hot tub or woodburning sauna. Winterlake Lodge B L D

DAY 4: Winterlake/Redoubt Bay/Anchorage
Fly by floatplane over the dramatic volcanic chain that links Winterlake with Redoubt Bay Critical Bear Habitat. This is a prime location for watching brown and black bear feeding on spawning salmon. Your guides brief you on "bear etiquette" before heading off by boat for the first of your bear-viewing opportunities. Late this afternoon fly to Anchorage for an evening at leisure. Hotel Captain Cook B L

DAY 5: Anchorage/Prince of Wales Island
Fly by jet to Ketchikan and then by floatplane to your lodge on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska's Inside Passage. One of the premier multi-activity lodges in Alaska, there are just 14 guest rooms and suites at this remote lodge on the quiet shore of Whale Pass. You have time to relax or kayak before cocktails and dinner. Since the summer sun sets late at night, you are able to fish or kayak near your lodge this evening. The Lodge at Whale Pass B L D

DAY 6: Prince of Wales Island
Travel to Le Conte Bay and the active Le Conte Glacier. Ice calves from its face almost continuously, forming floating icebergs from basketball to 'Titanic' size. Watch the ice spectacle and the harbor seals taking shelter from predators on floating ice. The Lodge at Whale Pass B L D

DAY 7: Prince of Wales Island
Your day is at leisure to choose your activity: guided hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, ocean or freshwater fishing, whale watching, bear viewing and even caving. The Lodge at Whale Pass B L D

DAY 8: Prince of Wales Island/Ketchikan
After a morning of activity at the lodge, fly by floatplane to Ketchikan for your homebound flight. B L
