
SIGNATURE ALASKA ITINERARY:
DAY 1: Anchorage, Alaska
Arrive in Anchorage and transfer to your hotel. Your program
has been carefully designed to combine the best lodge properties
with the freedom to select from a variety of activities to suit
your individual preferences. Begin your adventure this afternoon
on a private visit with a famed Alaskan artist at his homestead
where you view his collection of work and sample local

DAY 2: Anchorage/Winterlake
Transfer to Lake Hood for a flight to Winterlake Lodge with
the opportunity for flightseeing near Mount McKinley en route.
Your remote lodge, located along the western edge of the Alaska
Range and a checkpoint on the historic Iditarod Trail, features
just five private guest cabins. After lunch try hiking,
canoeing, fishing or dog sledding (sled on wheels). Join fellow
travellers for a wine tasting in the bar and then sit down to

DAY 3: Winterlake
Participate in your choice of guided activities at the
lodge. If you prefer to relax, try yoga, massage therapy, the

DAY 4: Winterlake/Redoubt Bay/Anchorage
Fly by floatplane over the dramatic volcanic chain that
links Winterlake with Redoubt Bay Critical Bear Habitat. This is
a prime location for watching brown and black bear feeding on
spawning salmon. Your guides brief you on "bear etiquette"
before heading off by boat for the first of your bear-viewing
opportunities. Late this afternoon fly to Anchorage for an

DAY 5: Anchorage/Prince of Wales Island
Fly by jet to Ketchikan and then by floatplane to your lodge
on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska's Inside Passage. One of the
premier multi-activity lodges in Alaska, there are just 14 guest
rooms and suites at this remote lodge on the quiet shore of
Whale Pass. You have time to relax or kayak before cocktails and
dinner. Since the summer sun sets late at night, you are able to
fish or kayak near your lodge this evening. The Lodge at Whale

DAY 6: Prince of Wales Island
Travel to Le Conte Bay and the active Le Conte Glacier. Ice
calves from its face almost continuously, forming floating
icebergs from basketball to 'Titanic' size. Watch the ice
spectacle and the harbor seals taking shelter from predators on

DAY 7: Prince of Wales Island
Your day is at leisure to choose your activity: guided
hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, ocean or freshwater fishing,
whale watching, bear viewing and even caving. The Lodge at Whale

DAY 8: Prince of Wales Island/Ketchikan
After a morning of activity at the lodge, fly by floatplane
to Ketchikan for your homebound flight. B L
