Discovery Series with A&K

ROGUE RIVER RAFTING ITINERARY:

DAY 1: Medford, Oregon/Merlin
Arrive at the airport and transfer to Morrison's Rogue River Lodge on the banks of the Rogue River. Meet your fellow travellers when you sit down to a gourmet four-course dinner. Then attend a pre-trip briefing to learn about the packing of your "dry bags." Morrison's Rogue River Lodge D

DAY 2: Merlin/Rogue River
After breakfast, go behind-the-scenes at Wildlife Images, a wildlife habilitation and education center that prepares rehabilitated animals - including bear, wolf, mountain lion and eagle - for release into the wild. Begin your rafting adventure at your launch at Grave Creek. The day begins with a splash as you head into your first challenge at Grave Creek Rapids and Grave Creek Falls. Keep your eyes open for salmon and steelhead leaping at Rainie Falls and bald eagle soaring overhead. This evening enjoy the first of two nights under the stars in the most comfortable camp available on the river. A&K River Camp B L D

DAY 3: Rogue River

Delve deeper into the heart of the Rogue River wilderness. Raft some fun rapids and participate in activities that include short hikes to historic sites such as adventure novelist Zane Grey's wilderness cabin, quick plunges into crystal-clear swimming holes, wildlife viewing and a riverside lunch. There is time this afternoon to relax, hike or learn about the natural history of the Rogue River Canyon. A&K River Camp B L D

DAY 4: Rogue River

Explore the Native American and pioneer history of the Rogue Canyon at the historic Rogue River Ranch. After lunch, prepare to meet your biggest challenge so far: the rapids at Mule Creek Canyon and Blossom Bar. Inflatable kayaks provide an unforgettable experience for the more adventurous. Photographers appreciate the stunning views and deep rocky gorges. Spend the night at the remotely located Half Moon Bar Lodge. Half Moon Bar Lodge B L D

DAY 5: Rogue River/Merlin/Medford
After a leisurely morning, your last day on the river provides more exciting rapids. Additional opportunities for adventure include hikes at Tate Creek or the falls at Flora Dell for a quick and refreshing swim. Reach the take-out point by early afternoon and return to Merlin via a scenic drive through the Siskiyou Mountains. You may choose to extend your stay and spend a relaxing evening at Morrison's Rogue River Lodge or transfer to Medford to catch your homebound flight. B L

RAPIDS > CLASS II-IV Mellow rapids that merely rock the boat with a little push-and-pull motion (Class II) to fast-paced rock'n'roll motion with water jumping into your raft and soaking everyone (Class IV)
