    LEWIS AND CLARK MONTANA ADVENTURE
Family Travel with A&K

LEWIS & CLARK MONTANA ADVENTURE ITINERARY:

DAY 1: Great Falls, Montana

You are met and transferred to your hotel. Meet your fellow travellers at tonight's welcome dinner. La Quinta Inn D

DAY 2: Great Falls/Browning

Visit the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center for a rich overview of their expedition. After a riverside lunch, drive to Browning, located in the heart of the Blackfeet Nation. Wander through the Museum of the Plains Indians before you settle into your spacious tipi, where you are warmed at night by campfire and comfortably sleep in off-the-ground cots with sleeping bags and pillows. Attend a traditional Blackfeet feast and sample local game, including buffalo and elk. Lodgepole Gallery & Tipi Village B L D

DAY 3: Browning/Fort Benton
Explore the prairie with a local Blackfeet historian, who takes you to Lewis and Clark Expedition sites including Starvation Winter site and Medicine River. This afternoon drive to Fort Benton, known as the "birthplace of Montana," located on the banks of the Missouri River. Spend the night at the Grand Union Hotel, built in 1882 and completely restored to its original splendor. Grand Union Hotel B L

DAY 4: Fort Benton/Missouri River
Drive to the confluence of the Marias and Missouri Rivers, a critical decision point of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and board 34-foot canoes that replicate those used by the early explorers. Or, if you prefer, choose to paddle a smaller 17-foot canoe. Over the next four days you paddle, hike and explore - bringing to life the adventure of Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery. After launching at Coal Banks Landing, the river carries you from a wide, meandering valley into the deep, rugged gorge of the famous White Cliffs area. A&K River Camp B L D

DAYS 5-6: Missouri River
Each day after breakfast, board your canoe and paddle downstream for a day of adventure. Hike to abandoned pioneer homesteads and learn about the native people who once inhabited these wild lands. The smooth and pleasant current of the river allows plenty of time for exploration and an unhurried journey. After a delicious evening meal prepared by your camp's staff, swap stories of your day's activities around the evening campfire. A&K River Camp B L D

DAY 7: Missouri River/Great Falls
Paddle the last 12 miles to the take-out at Judith Landing. After lunch return to Great Falls for your farewell dinner. La Quinta Inn B L D

DAY 8: Great Falls
Board your homebound flight. B
