Depart the U.S.A. and arrive in Bangkok the next day. Meet your expedition leader and fellow travelers for dinner. Transfer to Chiang Rai and cruise by riverboat through bamboo forests to our luxury camp. Go elephant trekking through teak jungles and visit some of the hilltribes of this beautiful, rarely visited region. Then return to Bangkok and join fellow travelers for the Sacred Places of Asia expedition.

Fly by private jet to Java and visit Borobudur—a 1,200 year-old temple ringed with Buddha statues. Marvel at Prambanan, an enormous Hindu temple whose main shrine soars above the surrounding compound. Savor Indonesian cuisine during lunch at a historic Javanese house and during dinner at a festive “Night Market.”

Explore Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, and The Bayon temples. Or visit Banteay Srei, the Citadel of Women. Marvel at the historic temples, shrines, and gardens of Kyoto and Nara, including Nijo Castle, the Todai-ji Temple, and the Golden Pavilion.
