          SACRED VALLEYS & INCA CITIES
SACRED VALLEYS & INCA CITIES ITINERARY:

Day One - Arrive at the Lima International Airport
Upon exiting customs, you will be met by an Adventures by Disney representative who will escort you to your transfer vehicle. Relax as the driver assists with your luggage and escorts you to the Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel in Lima.

Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel: Unwind while your Adventure Guides check you into your fine hotel in the Miraflores section of Lima. If your flight arrives early, take some time on your own to explore the diverse shops and restaurants in this vibrant neighborhood or enjoy the pool or spa* at the hotel. Ask your Adventure Guide for suggestions. Meals are not included due to late-night arrivals.

*additional charges apply

Day Two - Fly to Cusco
After a one-hour flight, travel to Cusco (elevation 11,200 ft. above sea level) to begin your journey to the Sacred Valley (elevation 8000 - 9200 ft. above sea level). After a short flight, a motor coach takes you to the Center for Traditional Textiles (12,500 ft. above sea level) for a delicious lunch of traditional Peruvian foods.

Center for Traditional Textiles: This important center preserves the age-old customs of local Andean communities. Master weavers demonstrate their intricate art, as well as how to spin and dye alpaca wool. You may purchase fine textiles woven in the distinct patterns of different villages at the center's friendly shop.

The Sol y Luna Lodge & Spa: This peaceful hotel nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley is surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful Andean mountains. Relax in your comfortable bungalow or enjoy some time on your own in the hotel's pool or fully equipped spa.* If you feel more energetic, the Sol y Luna offers horseback riding, biking and paragliding,* which you may choose to do independently.

Welcome Dinner: In the evening, you and your fellow travelers celebrate the beginning of your adventure with a traditional Andean feast known as Pachamanca. Learn the history behind this event, then watch Teatro Sol y Luna perform the dances and stories of the Incas. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

*additional charges apply

Day Three - Raft Trip Down the Urubamba
Enjoy the view and hold onto your hat as you raft down the Urubamba River (Class 1-2 rapids). The experienced guides explain the fascinating cultural and natural history as you glide along this scenic route.

Ollantaytambo: Following a hearty buffet lunch in the courtyard of a local museum, explore this quaint town's narrow cobblestone streets and the amazing Inca ruins on the hill above. The hike up the ancient steps is taken at a leisurely pace, enabling you to observe the dramatic surroundings and impressive architecture while minimizing the possible fatigue due to the altitude (elevation 9160 ft. above sea level).

Afternoon Activities: Cap off the day with a visit to a local home and learn about the local drink known as chicha. Then play the game of Toad, or Sapo, which is fun for adventurers of all ages.

Junior Adventurer's Dinner: Later at the hotel, Junior Adventurers can enjoy their own special dinner and Disney Movie Night. Adults may join them or enjoy dinner at the hotel. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day Four - Moray and Maras
Start the day in the ruins of Moray (elevation 11,106 ft above sea level) and learn about its unique circular terraces and the history of agriculture in the region. You have the option of hiking down into the ruin by taking the ancient Incan path, experiencing its history on its steep and uneven stairs. From Moray, travel to Maras for a colorful performance by a local dance troop, followed by a picnic lunch with spectacular views of the Sacred Valley.

Salt Pans of Maras: Tour the fascinating salt pan terraces where local families have been mining salt for over 500 years. If you choose, you can view more of the salt pans by hiking with an Adventure Guide downhill on a dirt trail into the Sacred Valley.

Taste of Peru and Pizza Making: Begin the evening with a Pisco Sour tasting for adults and local fruit juices for Junior Adventurers. Then learn how to carve fruits and vegetables. Afterwards, watch a demonstration of Peruvian cooking and taste some of the delicious local specialties. End the culinary evening by preparing your own pizza, rolling the dough, adding your favorite toppings and then eating your savory creation!
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day Five - Train to Machu Picchu
Enjoy the memorable and scenic train journey to Aguas Calientes, where you board a coach to Machu Picchu -- "the lost city of the Incas" and one of the 7 New Wonders of the World.

Machu Picchu: As your private motor coach climbs to the site of Machu Picchu (elevation 8000 ft. above sea level), anticipate the extraordinary sight of these magnificent structures surrounded by green peaks glazed by a soft mist. You may even see llamas peacefully grazing among the terraces. After a tour led by a local expert, spend the afternoon exploring the fascinating ruins and stunning views on your own. Remember that this amazing hike is at a high altitude and requires climbing and descending steep, uneven stairs. Take time to sit and marvel at the wonders around you. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day Six - Pisac Market
On the way to Cusco, stop at lively Pisac Market where you can shop for local crafts, silver jewelry and alpaca sweaters. Practice your bartering skills or simply enjoy browsing at the colorful stalls.

Awana Kancha Camelids Center: In this living museum (elevation 9160 ft. above sea level), get up close and personal with llamas, alpacas and even the rare and precious vicuña. See how the soft wool from these South American "camels" is used to make beautiful woven textiles. Lunch at Incanto Restaurant: Enjoy delicious pizzas and pastas at Incanto, an Italian-inspired restaurant .

Walking Tour of Cusco: Upon arriving at your hotel*, explore historic Cusco (elevation 11,200 ft. above sea level) with a local expert. View the charming Spanish buildings and the amazing stone foundations of the original Inca city. Afterwards, stroll through the cobblestone streets of this colonial jewel and discover more treasures on your own. Again, pace yourself for the high altitude and occasional steep streets. The town is filled with wonderful places to rest. Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

*Cusco hotels are either Casa Andina Private Collection or the Libertador Palacio del Inka depending on departure date.

Day Seven - The Stones of Sacsayhuaman
Just outside Cusco is the imposing Inca fortress Sacsayhuaman, where 200-ton stones were moved miles with no modern machinery. Wander through the ruins and tunnels and take photos of the panoramic views. A local expert is there to explain the history and answer your questions. After the tour you may choose to join an Adventure Guide for a steep downhill walk back to town.

Lunch on Your Own and Afternoon Activities: Spend your final afternoon on your own in Cusco discovering its many charms. Your Adventure Guides can suggest where you can enjoy a family lunch. Later, each adventurer may paint a traditional, locally made wooden frame as a keepsake.

Dinner at Casa Andina: Dine on delicious local and international cuisine in your hotel's historic colonial restaurant. Junior Adventurers have their own special menu.
Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner

Day Eight - Farewell Lunch
Following a short flight to Lima, enjoy a special farewell lunch with your fellow travelers at Casa Aliaga. This magnificent colonial mansion is the longest continually inhabited family home in Peru. Pay attention, though, because the mansion is rumored to be haunted! Cap off your exciting week with a splendid meal and musical entertainment.

Afternoon in Lima: Following lunch, you may relax at the Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel located in the trendy Lima neighborhood of Miraflores. Your Adventure Guides will be happy to make arrangements for you should you choose to independently explore the sites of this colonial capital.

Since flight schedules to the United States vary greatly, Adventures by Disney includes this final night's accommodation as a convenience should your flight leave the following morning. For Guests departing on Day 9, breakfast at the hotel is included. Please note, however, that there are no other activities or meals following lunch today. Should you depart Lima later this evening, you may use your accommodation until departure time. In either case, a transfer to the airport and luggage handling is included. Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

            FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the climate like?
Since South Africa is situated in the southern hemisphere, its seasons are the reverse of those in North America, with midwinter in June and July and midsummer in December and January. In general the country enjoys a sunny climate all year round. Cape Town and the southernmost part of the Western Cape have a mild, changeable winter— the time most rainfall occurs, and a warm to hot summer. The winters in the interior regions of the country, including the Kapama Game Reserve, are dry and warm, although sometimes chilly at night. Summers are hot with more frequent rain.

How strenuous are the activities?
This is an active trip with all activities being easy, and you may always choose to opt in or out as you wish. There are swimming pools at all four hotels, however none are heated. There may be up to two hours of casual walking during a full day of activity in Cape Town and along the Garden Route. There is a short, easy bike ride in the Winelands area on Day 4. Game viewing on Days 9-12 is enjoyed while riding in 4x4 vehicles. While nearly all of the trip's featured activities are gentle if enjoyed separately, the full range of activities requires a moderate amount of stamina in order to get the most of your vacation.

What ages are appropriate for this adventure?
We recommend that children be at least 8 years old at the time of travel on our Safari to South Africa trip. This is based on several factors, such as flight time and jet lag, time zone differences in the destination, duration of the vacation, extended hours of daily activity programming, number of internal transports between experiences, potential for extreme temperatures in the summer months, and amount of physical activity involved. Last but not least, the game viewing at Kapama for the final three days of the trip involves close encounters with large wild animals such as lions, leopards, buffalo, hippos and rhinoceroses. This requires a level of maturity to understand that sitting still and staying quiet is essential for fully enjoying this unique experience. Therefore, children should be a minimum of 6 years old for the game drives. Because each child is different, please call a Concierge Agent to discuss whether this is the right trip for your kids
